Firstly, thank you for all my Christmas cards and gifts, I feel truly blessed. Welcome to my new followers and loyal stalwarts!
Its been a very busy November and preparations started with earnest through October.
My husband and I have just become ‘empty nesters’, so we fulfilled a long wished for dream of visiting Marrakesh at the end of November. What an experience, we stayed for three days and whoosh did we fit a lot in. We stayed in a traditional Ryad, just inside the Medina. Did we get lost? Yeah loads! Did we do a rubbish job of bartering in the Souks? Yes! My favourite purchase might be the coin scarf/belt, which when I got home and took a closer look, realised it had Queen Elizabeth 2nd’s face on each coin!
Visiting the gardens of Yves Saint Lauren at Marjorelle was possibly the highlight, and the museum there was where I had the most amazing food. Here’s a few photos of my favourite moments If you are interested in more, take a look at the digital photo albums on my instagram or facebook pages with lots of inspiration from seeing mosaics to colourful pigments.

Celebration of Christmas Workshops
Thank you to everyone who has attended a workshop with me these past few months, my external ones particularly take loads of preparation and I’m always relieved and so happy when people leave joyful with what they’ve made I get a warm feeling from seeing all the wonderful creations, they never fail to inspire me. Please keep sending me photos of the finished grouted pieces in their new homes.
From RHS Hyde Hall, Rayleigh Mill Give it a go workshop, Hadleigh Old Fire Station to Old Bank Studios in Harwich - a lot of miles, many, many tiles and lots of new mosaic lovers!
New open Saturday Mosaic Class for those with some initial experience
A new idea I’m going to pilot in 2025 is a monthly Saturday class, for all those people who work full-time in the week. The idea is that people can bring a project, or start a new one and I’ll be around to give guidance whilst people work alongside me. Because i’ll also be working on my own mosaics the cost is going to be kept right down to £25 a session.
There’s lots of plans for 2025 but its now time to rest and relax with my family and that might include a bit of crafting for me…I had fun with a pretty little felted mushroom kit from Sherbet Felt that I picked up from the Give it a Go workshop I might even take a little busman’s holiday in 2025 and enjoy one of her classes. If
that’s something you fancy, check out her instagram page below.
2025 January - Spring
A small sniff of some exciting things in early 2025…I’ve submitted a postcard into the secret postcard100 artists creating 100 postcards, with 100 golden tickets sold to raise money for Metal's wonderful local project running art classes for people with dementia and organised by made in essex.
There is a photography exhibition coming to the Beecroft in early February curated by my exceptionally talented husband…to get a flavour give his social media a follow below.
I’m scheduled to deliver new heart mosaic class at Create 98 on 14th February…how romantic…that’s in addition to a fully booked mosaic heart workshop at RHS Hyde Hall on 3rd February.
In a break with my usual style of overloading you with reading a massive long newsletter, who has got time for that, at this time of year? Instead I’m going to be planning my workshops over the next few weeks and will send them out in short separate newsletters so you can easily see if its a workshop you fancy and if the dates are suitable, this will include some of stained glass in a day workshops and the shorter copperfoil glass mushrooms which are a lot of fun so watch this space!
I’m going to be adding new dates to the website weekly so hit the button below to find out more.
Breaking News!!!
My long hoped for members area is now live, still lots to do and learn on how its going to work and evolve but if you have some time over the xmas period and want to take a look hit the button below. I have set it to be viewed as 'public' but you can only contribute as a member...(there should be some rules to agree to before doing that) but I'd really appreciate if you took a look, sign up, and be brave enough to contribute...once a member you can post photos and I'm hoping long term to move away from all the individual WhatsApp threads so we can have a more joined up way of being a community of mosaic appreciators!
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone of you who have helped support my business through 2024, from liking and sharing my socials, or attending a class either at my home studio or at an external workshop or at the occasional craft market. It all helps, even when you don’t buy anything.
I send you warm wishes for 2025 and hope you are able to take a break to be around some people who are special to you. Below are a few photos of recent students work, lovely mosaics, well done to everyone.
If you know of someone who might enjoy this newsletter, please feel free to forward this on.
See you soon & thank you for reading and all your support
Nicola
